James H. "Buck" Harless Stadium
Built in 2011 for the inaugural season of Mingo Central Football, Harless Stadium has been named one of the "Top 10" Most-See Stadiums of West Virginia High School Football. With it's elevation of over 2,200 Feet, the view on top of Miner Mountain is nearly panoramic from both sides of the field. Seating 6,000 (4,500 Home, 1,500 Vistors), it is one of the largest of its kind in the
south-western corner of the state. The playing surface is FieldTurf Material.
From Charleston (US-119 Southbound):
Proceed on US-119 and exit at Fountain Place Mall in Logan for WV-73 (You'll be going downhill into Logan). At the 3rd set of traffic
lights, continue straight onto WV-44. You will travel this road for around 20 Miles and will come to an intersection on Horsepen Mountain.
You will see a Marathon Gas Station on your left. Continue straight and proceed to the King Coal Highway. Turn right onto the highway
and the stadium is 5 Miles out the ridge on the left side.
From Charleston (US-119 Southbound) Via Rt. 65-(ALTERNATE ROUTE):
Proceed on US-119 and Turn Left onto Rt. 65 South at Belo, Towards Delbarton. Remain on Rt. 65 for approximately 11 Miles. You will pass through the town of Delbarton. As you arrive at the community of Taylorville, turn right to continue on Rt. 65. You will pass "Miner Mart" Gas Station. You will quickly ascend Mary Taylor Mountain and at the top, make a left onto the King Coal Highway.
The stadium is 4.5 Miles out the ridge, on the right side.
From Beckley (I-77 Northbound):
Take Exit 42 from I-77 and proceed on Rt. 97. You will pass the towns of Maben, Saulsville, Pineville and Baileysville. At Hanover, you will turn right onto US-52. Stay on US-52 through Gilbert. Approximately 9.5 Miles past Gilbert, you will ascend Horsepen Mountain and come to an intersection with a Marathon Gas Station on the left. Turn Left toward the King Coal Highway. You will come to another intersection, Turn Right and the stadium is 5 Miles out the ridge on the left side.
From Bluefield (US-52 Northbound):
Proceed on US-52 through McDowell and Wyoming Counties. At R.D Bailey Lake, you will enter Mingo County. Remain on US-52 through Gilbert. Approximately 9.5 Miles past Gilbert, you will ascend Horsepen Mountain and come to an intersection with a Gas Station on the left. Turn Left onto the King Coal Highway. Soon after, you will come to another intersection, Turn Right, and the stadium is 5 Miles out the ridge on the left side.
